Get ready for a lot of action to take place in The CW’s “Supernatural” when it returns from a short break on Thursday, April 27 at 8 p.m. Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki), who have always been soldiers in the American hunting community, will be forced to take on leadership roles when they go to battle with the British Men of Letters (BMOL).

“Supernatural” executive producer Andrew revealed to TVLine, “Outside of a few friends, they [Dean and Sam] don’t have a lot of contact with the wider hunter community. So it forces our guys into a leadership role. They’ve been soldiers for a long time — and not that they don’t do their fair share of fighting — but toward the end of the season, they’re becoming generals. They’re taking a much stronger role in the wider hunter community as the Brits take the fight to them.”

While the boys are clear on which side of the battle they belong in, it isn’t so clear with their mother Mary (Samantha Smith) given that she had an affair with Mr. Ketch (David Haydn-Jones). Dabb said that Mary won’t defend the BMOL. Instead, she feels she made a mistake by trusting them and dragging her sons into this mess.

Of course, the Men of Letters isn’t the only pressing concern on the Winchesters’ plate. Season 12 is slowly but surely building towards the birth of Lucifer’s (Mark Pellegrino) baby and the devil’s escape from Crowley’s (Mark Sheppard) prison in hell.

“Supernatural” Season 12 will also see the return of fan-favorites such as Sheriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) and Alex (Katherine Ramdeen), according to another TVLine article. Moreover, there will be two surprise appearances – one by a relative newcomer (Mick?) and another by an old favorite.

The Season 12 finale, which airs on May 18, will consist of two hours — the first hour focuses on the BMOL and the second on Lucifer. Dabb teased about the finale to Entertainment Weekly, “We’re going for a more traditional ‘Supernatural’ season finale, where people will die, people will live, and people will be in danger. [The episode] leaves everyone in an extremely precarious position. We are very conscious about this whole idea of opening new worlds.”

“Supernatural” airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
