The It’s A Wonderful Lifetime programming event is officially kicking off for the 2019 holiday season with the premiere of its first new festive film, “Sweet Mountain Christmas.” The movie, starring Megan Hilty and Marcus Rosner, debuts Friday night.

The film’s stars are sure to be familiar to fans, as Hilty is best known for her roles on the Broadway stage as well as her starring turn as Ivy Lynn on “Smash.” She isn’t a stranger to Christmas movies, however, and fans of the annual Lifetime movies will also likely recognize her as Holly from “Santa’s Boots.” Rosner will also be a face fans recognize as well, as he has previously appeared in Hallmark Channel Christmas films like “A Christmas Detour” and “Christmas in Evergreen,” as well as ION’s “A Firehouse Christmas.” He made his debut on Lifetime’s holiday circuit in 2018’s “Poinsettias for Christmas.”

So what will happen in the first project that sees the two team up together? According to a synopsis, some potential holiday romance of course, as well as plenty of music.

“Country music star Laney Blu (Hilty) hasn’t been back to her Tennessee hometown in years. It wasn’t the kindest place to grow up, so when her career skyrocketed at seventeen she was happy to leave it behind,” the synopsis reads. “Though she’s set to headline a Christmas concert in NYC, Laney decides to make a quick pit-stop to see her family. When a freak snowstorm hits, she finds herself stranded in the town, and is roped into taking part in a local Christmas concert.”

However, as her time back in her hometown is extended, Laney starts to remember some of the good things about it, and when she starts to grow close to Robbie (Rosner), a snowplow driver, she starts to question if she remembered things all wrong. However, after the storm lets up, Laney will have a big decision to make. Does she go off to NYC and her big concert, or does she stay home and follow her heart?

“Sweet Mountain Christmas” airs Friday at 8 p.m. EDT on Lifetime.
