Two school employees in Syracuse, New York, have been put on administrative leave after photos of them in racist Halloween costumes were shared on Facebook.

In the photo, two women are seen in a classroom wearing shirts with the phrase, “No Lives Matter” written across them. At the center of one shirt was the fictional serial killers Michael Myers and the other shirt featured a photo of Jason Vorhees.

In a Facebook post of the photo, a woman promised to make sure the women were reprimanded for their Halloween costumes.

“They knew it was a problem because they keep their hoodies zipped for most of the day. They need to be dealt with @ HR,” she wrote.

“I’m not stopping, I’m writing the Superintendent & the Board. I’ve seen low but these...I say we protest that they be disciplined immediately.”

After the photo began to circulate online and comments criticizing the women began to pour in, the Syracuse City School District released a statement condemning the message on the shirts and the employees.

“We are aware of the recent post on social media. The two employees have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by our Human Resources Department. We believe Black Lives Matter in the Syracuse City School District,” the statement read via CNYCentral.

“The ‘costumes’ are racist, insulting, and offensive and not consistent with our core beliefs and values. We hold our employees to a higher standard and expect them to model appropriate behavior for our students.”
