For weeks fans of both Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston have been gawking over paparazzi photos of the pair, which suggest they are a couple. While many can’t get enough of their PDA packed trips to the beach and abroad, some just aren’t buying it.

Questions first arose about the authenticity of the Hiddleswift relationship in June when they began being photographed together. The relationship sparked up almost immediately after the “Out of the Woods” singer and Calvin Harris ended their one year relationship, which further pushed people to believe that Swift and her new beau may not be in it for love. They have since reached milestones in their might-be relationship that real couples take years to build up to — they’ve traveled to another country together, Swift has introduced the “Thor” actor to her friends and the award winning musician has even met her man’s mother.

Should Hiddleswift be a sham, they’re not the only ones. Countless celebrities are believed to have gotten romantically involved for the sake of publicity.

Below are 13 couples rumored to have faked it for the cameras:

Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley

In the early 90s, Michael Jackson was accused of having molested a young boy. Around that same time he was said to have begun dating Lisa Marie Presley. They married not long after in 1994, only to divorce two years later. Presley, 48, and the “Billie Jean” singer are thought to have dated for quite some time following their divorce, which only further fueled doubts about their relationship. It remains unclear whether their relationship was real, though Presley — who has since gotten married and had several children — has spoken fondly about her relationship with Jackson. During a 2010 interview with Oprah Winfrey, she addressed rumors their marriage was fake, shutting them down once and for all.

John Travolta and Kelly Preston

Although they’ve been married since 1991, many have questioned the validity of John Travolta and Kelly Preston’s relationship. Much of their marriage has been surrounded by rumors that the “Grease” actor is gay. As such, many believe that their marriage is a cover. These rumors remain unfounded.

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson

In 2008, “Twilight” dominated at the box offices while the off-screen relationship between Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) was splashed across every tabloid imaginable. Fans ate it up, but many were skeptical that the relationship was just another way to promote the brand. Stewart, 26, and Pattinson broke up in 2013 — the “American Ultra” star has gone on to date Alicia Cargile while her former beau is now engaged to FKA Twigs.

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise

In 2006 Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, a seemingly picture perfect Hollywood couple, tied the knot in an extravagant Scientologist ceremony. While many believed they were the perfect couple, rumors swirled that Cruise, 54, had auditioned several women to play the part of his adoring wife before settling on Holmes. Still, the pair went on to have one child together, a daughter named Suri. The “War of the Worlds” actor and Ohio native stayed married for six seemingly happy years before calling it quits in 2012, leading to one of the messiest divorces in Hollywood. Their separation resurfaced rumors about the terms of their marriage — in fact, as Huffington Post reminded the public at the time of their divorce, some believed Holmes, 37, and Cruise had signed a five-year marriage contract. To this day it remains unknown whether their relationship was real.

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens

Fans of the Disney Channel original film “High School Musical” couldn’t stop shipping stars Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron — fortunately, amid the movie’s massive success in 2006, the pair became a couple off screen. Fans of the franchise ate it up, but skeptics believed the timing was all too coincidental. Hudgens and Efron dated until 2010, surviving a nude photo scandal as well as rumors about his struggles with sobriety which gave a glimmer of hope that their love may have been real after all.

Kaley Cuoco and Henry Cavill

The “Big Bang Theory” actress and “Superman” star, both of whom were represented by the same publicity firm, dating for a brief moment in 2013. They were spotted together holding hands on several occasions, but fans struggled to buy into their romance. After less than two weeks of headline making, Entertainment Weekly reported that Cuoco, 30, and Cavill had gone their separate ways.

Julianne Hough and Ryan Seacrest

For three long years “Dancing with the Stars” judge Julianne Hough and Ryan Seacrest’s relationship was headline news. In 2012 the pair were engaged to marry, but never made it down the aisle. Despite the fact that they nearly tied the knot, many doubted that the relationship was real. That speculation grew in August 2014, when Hough told Redbook magazine that “there was nothing right” with her relationship.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries

As if every move Kim Kardashian makes isn’t already all over the internet, the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star took it a step further by getting married — very briefly, we might add. She and boyfriend Kris Humphries dated for a few months before trying the knot in 2011. Their picture perfect wedding was televised in an E! Special and the demise of their marriage — which lasted just 72 days — was filmed for “KUWTK.”

Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna

Not unlike his older sister Kim, 35, Rob Kardashian has been no stranger to high-profile relationships. In year he dated Rita Ora — though she denies the fact that they were a couple to this day — before gaining more than 100 pounds and becoming severely depressed. Rob, 29, came out of it in 2016 with a little help from Blac Chyna, to whom he is now engaged and expecting a child with. Many speculate that the relationship is an attempt for both parties to get a little spotlight, though they maintain that they are truly in love.

Selena Gomez and Zedd

In 2015 — around the same time they released their hit single, “I want you to know” — Zedd and Selena Gomez began being spending more and more time together outside of the studio. While relationship rumors swirled, fellow DJ Diplo spoke out about their romance, calling it a sham.

“I’m actually not enemies with Zedd by any means,” he said in an interview with Radio.Com. “I just think he came from such a cool place, and now he’s been pegged as a money-maker for a major label to do EDM, which to me isn’t even a genre. But they pegged him for that. They’ve marketed him, even the fake relationship with Selena Gomez, all the things to sell records took away from the music.”

Taylor Swift and Harry Styles

As shocked as some were that Taylor Swift may actually be faking a relationship with Tom Hiddleston for press purposes, it may not be the first time she’s done it. In 2012 she and Harry Styles — of One Direction fame — began appearing together on red carpets and being seen out and about together, sparking relationship rumors. Before long they were dubbed Haylor, according to MTV, and dated for several months before calling it quits in March 2013. While Swift’s heartfelt lyrics about her relationship with Styles in her song “I Knew You Were Trouble” — and the many other songs believed to be about him — struck a chord with fans, others believed their entire relationship was just fuel for catchy tunes and adorable paparazzi pictures.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani

Not long after country superstar Blake Shelton and wife Miranda Lambert announced their divorce, “The Voice” co-host Gwen Stefani and husband of more than 10 years Gavin Rossdale followed suit. In the months that followed the “Sangria” singer began spending more and more time with his co-host, which caught the attention of tabloids everywhere. It was rumored that the pair were a couple for several months before their November 2015 confirmation. Still, many presume that this odd couple are simply looking to garner some extra attention from the media after their respective splits.

Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid

Not long after he left One Direction to pursue a solo career did Zayn Malik and fiancée Perrie Edwards call it quits. In the months that followed he focused in on his music, releasing several sexy singles including “Pillow Talk.” The video that followed starred rumored girlfriend Gigi Hadid, daughter of former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Yolanda Hadid. They broke up in June 2016, but fans were far from heartbroken as they weren’t sure what Malik, 23, and Gigi had was real to begin with. They have since been spotted holding hands, suggesting that they are a couple once more.
