Punch things up a notch with this Thanksgiving cocktail. Chopin
  • 6 ounces Chopin Rye Vodka
  • 1⁄2 cup frozen cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 star anise pod
  • 1cardamom pod, optional
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 tablespoons orange zest
  • 3 cups fresh orange juice
  • 2 teaspoon fresh lime juice
  • 2 ounces Amaro Montenegro
  • 1 bottle chilled brut champagne
  • 10 orange peels and 30 spiked cranberries as garnish

Spiked Cranberries Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Chopin Rye Vodka
  • 1 cup frozen cranberries
  • Peel of 1 orange, without seeds
  • 1 cup sugar

Directions:

Bring to a boil, in a saucepan, the cranberries, sugars, spices, 1⁄4 cup water and orange peel. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes before setting it aside and letting it cool completely. Add in 1 1⁄2 cups of orange juice to the pan, stir. Strain through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher, add the remaining orange juice, Chopin Rye Vodka and Amaro and refrigerate until ready to drink.

When ready to serve, pour 2 1⁄2 ounces of the cranberry-orange juice into each glass and top with 2 1⁄2 ounces of chilled champagne. Garnish each glass with spiked cranberries and an orange peel.

To make the spike cranberries, bring 1⁄4 cup of water and sugar to a boil, stirring for about until the sugar dissolves, which should be about five minutes. Put the cranberries in a Mason jar and pour the sugar syrup over them, steeping until the concoction has cooled to room temperature (about 20 minutes). Cover the mixture with vodka and seal tightly. Normally, this should be refrigerated for at least 2 weeks and up to 1 month before using, but entertaining expert Mark Addison revealed that the sealed mason jar can run through the dishwasher on the top rack to quickly infuse the cranberries.
