Fans may have mixed feelings about the fact that “Dancing With the Stars” will be taking a hiatus during the usual Spring season, but those who are nervous about what it means for the show’s future don’t have any reason to worry.

After tweeting about the news that the series wasn’t coming back to ABC, longtime host Tom Bergeron made sure to assure the show’s fans that it wasn’t a cancellation, and the competition is still set to come back in the Fall.

“As predicted, we’ll see you in September, and we’ll make sure it’s worth the wait,” he wrote.

Bergeron was initially the first to reveal news about the hiatus through an Instagram post, where he commented that they weren’t coming back in the Spring, and led some to panic that it was off the schedule for Fall as well.

The decision to put the show on hiatus comes as a time of some turmoil, as many fans have called for a change to the voting system after Season 27 saw Bobby Bones take home the Mirrorball trophy, despite his low scores from the judges.

While a direct reason for the hiatus has not been given, it is more likely the show is taking a break due to there not being real room for it on the Spring schedule due to the return to “American Idol.” The show’s debut on ABC earlier this year caused the Spring season to be knocked down to just four weeks, a move fans didn’t care for either. With “American Idol” set to come back beginning March 3, it seems likely that ABC opted to forgo “DWTS” altogether so as to give fans a full season.
