The toys are back in town – and just in time for the holiday season! ABC will be airing the Pixar TV special, “Toy Story That Time Forgot,” this Tuesday and again Dec. 23, at 8 p.m. EST. And according to reports, the 22-minute animated film, directed by Steve Purcell and produced by Galyn Susman, will take place the day after Christmas.

“During a post-Christmas play date, the ‘Toy Story’ gang will find themselves in uncharted territory when the coolest set of action figures ever turn out to be dangerously delusional,” the synopsis of the plot reads. “It’s up to Trixie, the Triceratops, (voiced by Kristen Schaal) to help the toys return to Bonnie’s room.”

While trying to herd the toys home after a play date gone wrong, Trixie will come face-to-face with a warrior toy named Reptillus Maximus (Kevin McKidd), who has his prehistoric head up in the clouds. Reptillus won’t be the only new plaything crawling out of the toy box in “Toy Story That Time Forgot.” A sassy character who goes by the name of Angel Kitty (Emma Hudak) will appear in the new Pixar animated film, bringing quips and “Star Wars” references to the family film.

The holiday special will also include characters from “Toy Story” films of the past like Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz, Wallace Shawn as Rex, Timothy Dalton as Mr. Pricklepants, Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head and Joan Cusack as Jessie.

Originally, the special was planned to be a six-minute short film. But after much consideration (and three years of hard work) the animated film was turned into a holiday special. The cast and crew of “Toy Story That Time Forgot” gave fans their first taste of the show (with a look at the film's poster) when they made an appearance on a panel at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con.

Tune in to “Toy Story That Time Forgot" on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 8 p.m. EST.
