The new trailer of "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" features a new breed of antagonists, known as the Maximals, the Predacons and the Terrorcons.

"For millions of years, our world has transformed but something else has awakened," the video, released Thursday, began with a gorilla-looking creature descending to a lake in front of two scared humans.

"Stand down," said Optimus Prime in his signature authoritative voice.

"I'm not the one to fear, Prime. There is a darkness coming," replied Optimus Primal, the leader of the Maximals who took the form of a gorilla.

Directed by Steven Caple Jr., the new "Transformers" movie will not feature a clash between the Autobots and Megatron's army of Decepticons. Instead, Optimus Prime and his cohorts will battle against new antagonists led by Scourge (voiced by Peter Dinklage) and his band of Terrorcons, which were earlier introduced in the TV series "Beast Wars: Transformers" in the late 90s.

Terrorcons are a sub-group of Decepticons created from dead Transformers and have the ability to suck the life force from their Autobot prey. They possess extreme strength, which makes them particularly dangerous to Optimus Prime and his fellow Autobots and the Maximals.

The latest "Transformers" installment also features Optimus Prime's fellow Cybertronians, the good-natured Maximals and the Predacons – descendants of Decepticons who disguise themselves as animal forms, particularly predatory creatures such as scorpions or dinosaurs.

The trailer also shows glimpses of the Falcon-looking Maximal, Airazor (voiced by Michelle Yeoh), and other Maximals such as the Cheetor (Cheetah-looking robot) and Rhinox (Rhinoceros-looking Maximal) during an intense fight scene.

"Of all the threats from both your past and future, you've never faced anything like this," Optimus Primal told Optimus Prime. "Let them come!" the latter replied.

"Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" is set in 1994 and tells the story of former military personnel and electronics genius Noah (Anthony Ramos) and museum researcher Elena (Dominique Fishback), who get caught in the middle of a conflict between the Autobots and Decepticons.

The other cast members include Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime), Ron Perlman (Optimus Primal), Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Liza Koshy (Arcee), John DiMaggio (Stratosphere), David Sobolov (Rhinox/Battletrap), Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (Nightbird), Cristo Fernández (Wheeljack) and Tobe Nwigwe (Reek).

"Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts" will hit the theaters on June 9, 2023.
