It’s no secret that Trey Songz and Nicki Minaj are not on the best terms but his recent attempt to try to smooth things over with the rapper may have only made things worse.

On Friday, the “Animal” singer appeared in an interview with The Breakfast Club on the New York radio station Power 105.1. While there, the singer addressed his relationship with Minaj following their falling out.

The singer told the radio hosts that Minaj didn’t apologize for attacking him on Twitter over rumors that they slept together. Instead, Songz insisted he’s the reason why Minaj is so popular due to him featuring her on his song “Bottoms Up.”

“All before that, it was looks, you hanging with Wayne, ‘Who’s the wild girl with the wild hair?’” Songz said, describing the rapper’s career before he let her on his song.

“I love you, Nicki, I love you...you came at me wrong, you disrespected me but I love,” Songz said looking directly at the camera.

The singer went on to say that Minaj jumped to conclusions too quickly regarding the rumors of them being intimate but he would not disrespect her because they have history together. However, he did say that she should have been mad at Remy Ma rather than directing her anger towards him.

The drama began between Minaj and Songz when Remy Ma released her diss record “shETHER” in February, in which she claimed that the two slept together. Minaj then called Songz out on Twitter for not denying the rumors.

Although he made a video denying that he and Minaj had been intimate, the two never reconciled over the misunderstanding and considering his most recent interview on the matter, an apology may not be coming his way anytime soon.
