Tom Holland is trading in his Spidey suit for some tap shoes as he has been cast to play Fred Astaire in an upcoming biopic — much to the delight of his fans.

The Marvel star revealed the big news that he will be portraying the iconic actor, dancer and singer in a Sony project during an interview with the Associated Press at a press event and photocall for "Spider-Man: No Way Home" in London Sunday.

While Holland's dance background hasn't been highlighted in his superhero films, the 25-year-old actor did play the title role in "Billy Elliot: The Musical" in the West End theater in London from 2008 to 2010. He underwent more than two years of extensive ballet training for the role and learned gymnastics during his time performing in the musical.

Twitter users expressed their excitement over the casting, with fans saying that Holland's dance background makes him a good choice to play Astaire, who is considered among the greatest dancers in film history.

"It's really good casting," one Twitter user commented. "He’s been ready for this role," another fan insisted.

"He’s a great dancer and good at gymnastics, plus he started off on West End as well!" a third person wrote alongside a clip of Holland dancing ballet.

"Boy knows how to spot and spots like a pro," another agreed.

"For those of you wondering if Tom Holland really has what it takes to dance like Fred Astaire, this should hopefully answer your question," another netizen wrote, sharing a clip of the actor's iconic performance of a "Singin' in the Rain" and "Umbrella" mashup on "Lip Sync Battle."

Another said, "He was Billy f--king Elliot on the West End, he’ll be FINE."

But although many fans were happy about Holland's casting, some were not sure if he was right for the part, pointing out that it takes more than dancing skills to play Astaire.

"Seriously, watch some Astaire footage, just being a good dancer isn’t enough. The guy was otherworldly," one person wrote.

"He better do a lot better than that," another commented.

A third user claimed that while Holland may be a good dancer, he "can’t act and that [is] the issue."

However, Sony producer Amy Pascal apparently believes that Holland is perfect for the role as the actor said she personally informed that he got the part during a FaceTime chat.

"[Pascal] Facetimed me earlier. I was in the bath...," Holland told the Associated Press of the project. "But I will be playing Fred Astaire."

As for the script, Holland said he hasn't read it yet as "they haven’t given it to" him.

Reports of his potential casting as the legendary actor first began swirling after Pascal said during a recent GQ interview that she wanted Holland for the role.

In the same interview, Pascal also said that Holland will be reprising his role as Spider-Man for three more undisclosed Marvel projects after "No Way Home" hits theaters.

"Spider-Man: No Way Home" will be released on Dec. 17.
