  • Amber Heard's first witness Dawn Hughes was slammed on Twitter when she testified under oath
  • Heard's fans supported Hughes, and they believed in her statements due to her expertise
  • Hughes' WebMD profile was flooded with negative reviews when she took the stand during the trial

Amber Heard's first witness received intense backlash from the netizens after taking the stand Tuesday.

Clinical psychologist Dawn Hughes testified for Heard in the ongoing trial of Johnny Depp's defamation against the actress in Virginia. She said under oath that the "Aquaman" star had PTSD due to the alleged "intimate partner violence by Mr. Depp."

Hughes also made other claims to support Heard, which raised many eyebrows. She mentioned that Heard did not exhibit patterns of abuse and was not convinced that males could be victims of domestic violence.

"The psychologist also testified that Amber Heard never exhibited patterns of abuse in previous relationships? So she wasn't arrested for DV on her x-wife Tasya Van Ree? She didn't spend a night in jail and accused the lesbian cop — that witnessed and arrested her — of homphobia?" one commented on Twitter.

"All of the psychologist’s opinions are based on what Amber told her. I doubt she would have confess[ed] to being arrested for dv. (Twice, I believe)," another added.

"Amber Heard's psychologist already wanting to establish that she should be allowed to assault Johnny Depp more because of size difference. Like Amber openly used (in audio) to belittle Johnny when he would complain about her abusing him," a different user wrote.

Another agreed, "I thought the same damn thing! So, because she is smaller, it means she isn’t able to hurt him etc. I do not like this lady so far!"

"This a--, Dr. Dawn Hughes looks like a Karen. She believes men are incapable of being victims, she sounds and looks like [a] c--t. She was clearly fed bulls--t by the bed s--tter. #JohnnyDeppAmberHeardTrial," another wrote.

On the other, Heard's supporters have nothing but praises for Hughes. They were convinced that she was telling the truth.

"Dr. Dawn Hughes is the star of this trial. Everybody looking pale in comparison. #JusticeForAmberHeard #IStandWithAmberHeard," one tweeted.

"And she’s only their FIRST witness I am SMILING," another added.

Another user pointed out Hughes' expertise by sharing her bio.

"And Dr. Dawn M Hughes, Ph.D. ABPP is a clinical and forensic psychologist who specializes in the assessment and treatment of interpersonal violence and traumatic stress. She has over 20 years of experience and has served as an expert witness in numerous criminal cases," the netizen wrote.

Meanwhile, the backlash against Hughes wasn't limited to Twitter. Her WebMD profile was flooded with negative comments while testifying for Heard.

Many reviews accused Hughes of being biased against men in domestic violence cases. Some called her sexist and unprofessional, NBC News reported.

The barrage of negative reviews on Hughes' profile has since been removed. Hughes didn't respond for comment about her page and the reviews.

Depp is suing Heard for the 2018 op-ed she wrote about surviving domestic abuse. Depp claimed that even if he wasn't mentioned by name, the article was about him, and it ruined his reputation and career.

Heard will be taking the stand later this week.
