A 36-year-old convicted pedophile in North Yorkshire, England, received a 14-year sentence Monday after he plotted with an undercover police officer to sexually abuse the latter's non-existent 4-year-old child.

John Peter Noble, of Ripon, was sentenced in York Crown Court to 10 years in prison and four years on license, local newspaper The Northern Echo reported.

He pleaded guilty on May 1 to offenses including arranging to rape a child, sexual assault on a child, arranging to use a sex toy on a child and arranging for a child to urinate in a glass for his own sexual gratification and consumption.

Between March and April, Noble had given a woman who he believed was the mother of a 4-year-old child detailed instructions on how to bring the girl to him, including descriptions of how the mother should train the child and what he wanted to do with the young girl, The York Press reported, citing prosecutor Kate Bissett.

The mother Noble was messaging and speaking to on the phone, however, was an undercover police officer, and there was never a real-life victim in the investigation.

He was arrested by officers from North Yorkshire Police's Online Abuse and Exploitation Team on April 30 when he went to the pre-arranged meeting location in Ripon, as per The Northern Echo.

Noble was charged with breaching the conditions of his sexual harm prevention order by trying to arrange for a young girl and a baby to stay over at his home.

The order had been issued to him by York Crown Court on Sept. 19, 2019, over offenses including indecent images of children, inciting or causing children to perform sexual acts and sexual communication with a child.

Judge Sean Morris also made Noble, who called himself "TryingToMoveForward" online, a subject to a new, lifelong sexual harm prevention order and put the pedophile on the sex offenders' register for life.

"I do regard [Noble] as posing a significant risk of causing serious harm to children by future such offenses," Morris said.

Noble's defense claimed "he very much wants to change," according to The York Press.
