It costs literally nothing to be kind, but it does have the power to make someone's day.

An unwell man who had just woken up from a nap was hungry, so he decided to order from a restaurant just minutes from its closing time. However, he was aware how last-minute his order was, and decided to leave an apology note for the restaurant, where he asked the staff to cancel his order if it was an inconvenience.

While placing the order for a Fettuccine Carbonara, he wrote, "I'm sorry I'm ordering so late I'm very sick right now I just woke up. I understand if you cancel [because] you're trying to close the store xx."

Touched by the considerate message, the staff at the restaurant not only ensured his order was out, they also sent him a free portion of garlic bread along with it, shares India Times.

"A couple days ago someone ordered 14 mins before closing time and wrote a note to us. I wrote one back and gave them a free garlic bread and a couple hours ago while working, I found out they left a review about it :). Was pretty happy for the rest of the shift." the staff member shared on Reddit.

There was also a note accompanying the food, and it read, "Thank you for the kind note, don't stress about ordering late, we don't mind. Here's free garlic bread to help you feel a bit better. It's kind messages like yours that really make my/our day better. Thank you."

The man, touched by the staff's heartwarming gesture, left a five-star review for the restaurant on Google.

He wrote, "They gave me garlic bread on the house when I was feeling sick and wrote me a cute lil note in the delivery box and personally I would like to give each and every employee a little forehead kiss. Also, it seems like they broil the cheese on top of the carbonara and it makes it all crispy on top and personally I think I might cry it was so good, thank you kings."

The post was flooded with a sea of comments, all praising the employee's response and kindness. But, one Redditor pointed out that sometimes, sharing information of an employee bending the rules for a customer may get them in trouble if the employer is unaware of it. To this, the employee replied that they're nervous about what would happen if the boss does find out. "[At the moment] only 3 of us know. He does give out free stuff every now and then and this ended up in his shop getting a 5 star review sooo hopefully all should be well."

All said and done, this is definitely going to be something that both parties fondly remember for a long time.
