Oakland-based rapper V-Nasty, who gained a bit of fame on the back of her White Girl Mob sister-in-sound Kreyshawn, is becoming a Muslim!

Vanessa Reece, a.k.a. V-Nasty, got in trouble early on for her use of the n-word in her music (despite being in the White Girl Mob, she's only half white – her father is Vietnamese), but her lean-drinkin', blunt-smokin' ways gave her some staying power. Her collaboration with Gucci Mane on BAYTL bombed, and she's been out of the spotlight ever since, even toning down her once-formidable tweeting machine.

So what's V-Nasty been up to? Learning about Islam, apparently! She also talked about quitting lean, a.k.a. purple drank, or the painkiller cough medicine cocktail popular with rappers, though it's not the first time she's tried to shake off the drug. (No word on whether she's putting down the other purp and stopping smoking weed.)

The Islam announcement came in the form of V-Nasty retweeting a statement by Las Vegas-based hip-hop artist Hassachi Ryda:

The shahada is the simple Muslim declaration of belief in Allah as the only god, and is perhaps the most important of the five pillars of faith in Islam. Earlier in the evening, she tweeted a link to the following note: Here are some other tweets (and retweets) from V-Nasty yesterday:

That real trill role model, indeed.
