Elena will discover the truth about what Stefan has been up to in the Season 6 premiere of "The Vampire Diaries." CW

Dying for the Oct. 2 premiere of “The Vampire Diaries”? Join the club! Fortunately we’ve got some new scoop on the Season 6 premiere that will hold you over for the next few weeks. The CW has released the synopsis for “The Vampire Diaries” Season 6 premiere and it’s everything that fans wanted and more.

The synopsis for episode 1, titled “I’ll Remember,” teases that a four-month time jump has occurred since the deadly and heartbreaking events that occurred in the Season 5 finale. Elena (Nina Dobrev) has dealt with the loss of Damon (Ian Somerhalder) in an “unconventional and potentially dangerous way” since fans last saw her, however she could potentially be turning her life around by returning to Whitmore College for her sophomore year. The brunette beauty won’t be the only one struggling at the start of Season 6 – her friends are all dealing with the consequences of the Travelers in their own way.

For Caroline (Candice Accola), her focus is on reversing the anti-magic spell cast over Mystic Falls and returning home. Tyler (Michael Trevino) on the other hand, is now a human – which fans would think would make his life a lot easier. But unfortunately it’s the opposite. The former hybrid will have a difficult time controlling his anger when he has a run-in at a football tailgate. Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) will once again be on a self-destructive path following the death of Bonnie (Kat Graham), and it will be up to Matt (Zach Roerig) to watch over his friend before anything bad happens.

“Vampire Diaries” fans will also get to see Alaric (Matt Davis), who returned from the dead during the Season 5 finale. While viewers watched him die and come back to life on multiple occasions thanks to the Gilbert ring, this time will be different – because he’s a vampire. The former Mystic Falls high school teacher never had the opportunity to live as a vampire, and will find it difficult to adjust to his “new life” in the Season 6 premiere. Things won’t get any easier for him when he finds himself in an “awkward situation” with a beautiful university hospital doctor named Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O’Keefe).

As for the juicy Season 6 premiere twist? The Mystic Falls gang believed that for the past few months Stefan (Paul Wesley) was tracking a lead on how to bring Damon and Bonnie back. Unfortunately that couldn’t be further from the truth. Elena will discover what he’s “really been up to” by the end of episode 1.

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 6 premiere will air on Thursday, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. EDT. What are you excited to see unfold in episode 1, “I’ll Remember”? Tweet your thoughts to @AmandaTVScoop.
