Vampire Diaries
Season 6 of "The Vampire Diaries" will premiere on The CW on October 2. The supernatural drama will be introducing a handful of new characters. CW

“The Vampire Diaries” has a nasty habit of killing off characters … so it makes sense that they have to introduce a lot of new faces every season! Fans of the hit CW series will have to wait until Oct. 2 for the premiere of Season 6, but casting news has been hot for the past couple of weeks. Check out a roundup of all the new characters being introduced when the show returns in the fall:

Kai

Chris Wood is no stranger to The CW. The actor previously appeared on “The Carrie Diaries” as Adam Weaver, and will be making the move to “The Vampire Diaries” as Kai.

TV Guide reports that Kai is a “charmingly unstable newcomer with the unsettling ability to seem normal as the situation demands.” Expect a playful and “adolescent angst” side to Wood’s character when he makes his first appearance in episode 3 of Season 6.

“Apparently I like Diaries,” Wood tweeted after his casting broke.

Liam

“Client List” alum Marco James won’t be moving to Mystic Falls … but he will be showing up at Whitmore College. James will be playing a recurring character named Liam, whom The Wrap describes as an “attractive and smart upperclassman.” But no Whitmore College student comes without suspicion. Liam may be a “good-natured” guy, but he’s a med student from a family of doctors – Augustine research part 2, maybe?

Marco James will make his first appearance on “The Vampire Diaries” during the Season 6 premiere on October 2.

Jo

Jodi Lyn O’Keefe of “Hit The Floor” will be joining “The Vampire Diaries” as Jo, a “tough and accomplished doctor at the university hospital.” According to Entertainment Weekly, the new character “demands excellence from her students and has learned the hard way that there’s no room for error in her profession.” Could she potentially be linked to Dr. Wes Maxfield’s Augustine research?

Tripp

As we previously reported, Colin Ferguson of “Eureka” will be heading to Mystic Falls to take charge of the drama-ridden town. Ferguson will be playing Tripp, a “handsome, strong and disciplined” man who will become the head of the community’s militia. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tripp will be a “surrogate father to his young trainees, who will do anything to protect his town.”

Executive producer Julie Plec teased her Twitter followers that Tripp’s addition would give “Sheriff Forbes a run for her money,” but we’re more worried about Matt’s potential involvement.

Sarah

Gabrielle Walsh of “Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones” will make her first appearance on “The Vampire Diaries” during the Season 6 premiere on Oct. 2. Walsh will play a young woman named Sarah who comes to Mystic Falls with “spunk,” “street smarts,” and a “shady agenda.”

Ivy

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Days of Our Lives” actress Emily C. Chang will be playing Ivy in Season 6 of “The Vampire Diaries.” The character is said to be the “quintessential girl next door with an unexpected wild side.”

Unnamed Guy Who Runs a High-End Hot Rod Shop

Jayson Warner Smith of “Rectify” will leave his spot as a death row inmate to run a high-end hot rod shop on “The Vampire Diaries.” No name has been released for Smith’s character, but he will reportedly appear in two episodes.

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 6 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. ET. Are you excited about the casting news? Tweet your thoughts to @AmandaTVScoop.
