‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 8 Spoilers: Episode 5 Synopsis, Photos And Promo Video Released

Damon has officially crossed the line. In the last episode of “The Vampire Diaries,” Matt found the body Damon abandoned on the road — the body of Tyler Lockwood. It seems like his death will force Stefan make a painful decision in Season 8, episode 5.

“Spiraling down a dangerous path of self-destruction, Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) latest actions prove he may be beyond the point of return,” the synopsis reads. “Unwilling to give up on his brother, Stefan (Paul Wesley) is forced to make a gut-wrenching decision that threatens to change their relationship forever.”

So what’s this “gut-wrenching decision” that Stefan must make? According to the promo video above, Stefan wants to “put him down.” He has to stop his brother somehow. He was hoping to save Damon from the sirens’ control, but if all of their loved ones are in danger, Stefan might view Damon’s return to a coffin as the only option.

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 8, episode 5 is called “Coming Home Was a Mistake.” The title is a quote that Stefan said to Elena (Nina Dobrev) in the fifth episode of the first season. Which brother will regret returning to his hometown in this week’s episode?

While Stefan is down to his last resort with Damon, Bonnie (Kat Graham) still has hope that Enzo (Michael Malarkey) can be rescued. “Elsewhere, Bonnie gets advice from Caroline (Candice King) on how to break through to Enzo,” the episode 5 summary reveals.

Matt (Zach Roerig) was dragged back into the vampire drama last week as well. It looks like he’ll get pulled further into the latest Mystic Falls mysteries. “Matt attempts to decipher a mysterious box of messages that he’s received,” the synopsis teases.

Matt has another reason for being in town, though: Tyler’s (Michael Trevino) funeral. “Finally, after tragedy strikes close to home, Stefan and the others are forced to remember what matters most to them,” the summary reveals. Expect Tyler’s death to affect all of his friends.
