A brown snake and a highly venomous redback spider were caught on camera wrestling in the backyard of a home in Adelaide, Australia, on Friday.

In a Facebook post Saturday, the Snake Catchers Adelaide wrote that the spider “took on” the baby brown snake in the backyard and eventually killed the reptile.

“Unfortunately for the little snake the spider won this time, we tried to save it but it was too late unfortunately. I asked if they could film it and they were too frightened to intervene before we arrived. The snake was still alive on arrival but later died,” the post said.

The video of the incident showed the spider and the snake battling. The spider eventually kills the reptile before moving out of the scene.

The video has since gone viral with several netizens feeling “sad” for the reptile.

“ As much as I dislike & am scared of snakes, this was sad to watch poor lil snake ,” a Facebook user wrote. “I would of killed the spider to save the snake,” another user wrote.

“Omg I am terrified of spiders, I would’ve sprayed it with fly spray and hoped the snake made it out alive oh and ran from the spider lmao,” wrote another user.
