  • Right-wing media is zooming in on the reasons why Pelosi tore-up Trump's speech
  • They're saying she "pre-tore" the paper before ripping the pages apart by the end of the speech
  • "Pelosi ripping up the SOTU speech was premeditated," Trump's team claims

Right-wing conspiracy theorists are now claiming House majority leader Nancy Pelosi's spur-of-the-moment act of ripping-up president Donald Trump's State of the Union speech was premeditated and not one of impulsive anger.

Asked why she tore Trump's speech in half for the world to see, Pelosi replied: "Because it was the courteous thing to do considering the alternatives. I tore it up. I was trying to find one page with truth on it. I couldn't."

Pelosi later explained: "The manifesto of mistruths presented in page after page of the address tonight should be a call to action for everyone who expects truth from the President and policies worthy of his office and the American people."

The right's latest attempt to downplay Pelosi's monumental act of defiance that overshadowed Trump's entire SOTU and grabbed world headlines is to claim she planned the moment, suggesting what Pelosi did was part of a Democratic Party plan to embarrass Trump.

The Trump War Room, whose mantra is to punch back 10 times harder and is managed by the #TeamTrump 2020 campaign, got the latest anti-Pelosi rumor starting on Twitter by claiming Pelosi "pre-tore," or made "small tears to the paper," before ripping the speech apart. They then declare "Video confirms Nancy Pelosi ripping up the #SOTU speech was PREMEDITATED." They even have a timeline of what Pelosi did.

"9:49 PM: Pelosi makes small tears to the paper after POTUS mentions "new cures for childhood cancer" and eradicating AIDS.

"10:24 PM: Pelosi holds up the already torn paper and finishes ripping it in half."

Photos released online also seemingly show small tears in the middle of the pages of Pelosi's copy of the SOTU speech.

The premeditated ripping-up was echoed by right-wing political blog RedState, whose senior editor, Brandon Morse, also made the same claim by saying Pelosi was "testing" the paper.

Trump's White House, however, took a different tack from the whole "Pelosi- intentionally-ripping-up-SOTU-speech" thing. It said "Speaker Pelosi just ripped up: One of our last surviving Tuskegee Airmen. The survival of a child born at 21 weeks. The mourning families of Rocky Jones and Kayla Mueller. A service member's reunion with his family. That's her legacy."
