Thousands of pro-Trump supporters on Saturday made their way through Washington, D.C., to walk in the Million MAGA March/Stop the Steal DC demonstration. What began as a mostly peaceful march escalated into violence, as cameras later caught rally-goers clashing in the streets with counterprotesters.

Many unmasked Trump supporters had marched to the Supreme Court to protest the outcome of the 2020 election. Those included in the march were Women for America First and the Proud Boys, along with other President Trump supporters.

Violence broke out at about 8 p.m. just blocks east of the White House.

The Washington Post posted videos of both protestors and counter-protestors engaging in physical confrontations. Police wore riot gear and used pepper spray to contain the unrest.

There were 20 arrests, according to WUSA 9 reporter Kolbie Satterfield.

Two police officers were injured in the melee. A man in his 20s was stabbed and is in critical condition, according to reports.

Some of the violence carried over into the early hours of Sunday, the Post reported.

President Trump, who has yet to concede in the 2020 election, tweeted about the violence and directed blame at Mayor Muriel Bowser.
