It is finally time to say goodbye to Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) in “Vikings” Season 6, episode 7. The character’s death was teased a long time ago, but it happened in an unexpected way. Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) will return to Kattegat to watch his mother’s funeral.

A preview video of the next episode that has been released online shows Lagertha getting a send off that is worthy of a queen. She will be laid to rest on a boat and her warriors will fire flaming arrows to set her body along with the boat on fire.

The snow-covered river will make it difficult to perform the ritual. However, the soldiers will manage to break the ice and pull the ship along.

Bjorn will be back to send his mother off. A sneak peek scene from the next episode shows him telling Lagertha that he never expected that a day would come when he would have to bid her farewell. The former queen of Kattegat was Bjorn’s strength, and she always encouraged him to go on no matter what.

The funeral of Lagertha will bring tears in Bjorn’s eyes in “Vikings” Season 6, episode 7. The setbacks he has suffered recently will make him want to join his mother and father in Valhalla.

Lagertha has already become a legend among her people. Bjorn calls her the greatest shield maiden of all time. Even in death, she will continue to inspire her people, and her son, to continue to fight.

The fighting will continue in the next episode, as more armies will march against each other. A preview video shows a new army joining the fight. Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith) will recognize that the death of his father has brought about unimaginable calamities on the people.

“Vikings” Season 6, episode 7 is titled “The Ice Maiden.” It will air on Jan. 15 at 9 p.m. EST on History.
