Earlier today the preview of “Vinland Saga” surfaced online, and from what we can see in the images and brief preview, fans will witness the continuation of the confrontation in Episode 13. The upcoming episode is titled “The Child of the Hero” and will show the extension of Throkell and Askeladd’s confrontation. It appears that this time, with the help of Wales, the balance could tip in favor of Askeladd.

“Vinland Saga” is a coming of age story set during the time of Viking wars at the turn of the 11th century. The very first episode of the series took the audiences in the middle of the Battle of Hjörungavágr in the year 987. The overall narrative is a slow-burner that places character-building philosophy at the core of its foundation.

The characters in “Vinland Saga” are inspired by historical accounts of the era. The series’ main protagonist is Thirfinn, which is based on the real-life explorer Thorfinn Karlsefni. Lief is based on Leif Erikson, an explorer who is credited for the discovery of the North American continent where Vinland is situated.

All the other characters are inspired by legends or invented. For instance, Askeladd’s name is inspired by the Norwegian folklore character popular for being clever. The story of “Vinland Saga” revolves around Thorfinn who is the son of one of the greatest Viking warriors.

Sadly, a battle overwhelms the territory, and his father died in the battle, which was headed by Askeladd. Thorfinn swore revenge on Askeladd, but one thing leads to another, and he found himself in the middle of the war for the crown of England.
