Walking Dead
Beth (Emily Kinney) will resurface in Season 5 episode 4 of "The Walking Dead" after getting kidnapped in Season 4. AMC

“The Walking Dead” just said goodbye to one threat – but is another one about to appear? That’s the question after episode 3 aired on Sunday.

According to the synopsis for episode 4, “Slabtown,” viewers will meet another group of survivors – potentially those who kidnapped Beth (Emily Kinney) in Season 4. The synopsis teases that “things appear safe and nice.” But the new group of survivors has “a bit of a dark side.”

Could that dark side be worse than Gareth’s (Andrew J. West) group of cannibals at Terminus? Potentially.

For those who missed the latest installment of the AMC series, episode 3, “Four Walls and a Roof,” found Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) group pitted against Gareth and the surviving Terminus residents. While the former prison crew thought they had managed to escape the horrors at Terminus, Gareth and the Termites followed them to Father Gabriel’s (Seth Gilliam) church and captured Bob (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.). In one of the most horrifying scenes in the series, Bob awoke to find that his leg had become dinner for the Terminus folks. But what came next turned everything around.

“You idiots,” Bob told Gareth after laughing like a maniac. Picking up his shirt, Bob revealed that he had been bit by a walker prior to getting captured by them. “I’m tainted meat.”

Needless to say the cannibals – or hunters – weren’t happy with the new development. They all began freaking out and vomiting before turning their anger towards Bob. They later dropped what was left of Bob at the church – prompting Rick’s group to retaliate.

With Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) missing, Rick hatched a plan to split up what was left of his group. A handful of them left to attack the Termites, and Gareth’s group snuck into the church to murder (or eat) those that were left behind. What Gareth didn’t bank on was Rick’s plan to lure them into the church. Before the cannibals could touch a single person left behind, Rick’s group returned with their guns blazing. But Rick had no intentions of simply putting a bullet in Gareth’s head. Just as he promised him in the Season 5 premiere, Rick (repeatedly) took a red-handled machete to Gareth’s body.

Episode 3 eliminated the Terminus cannibals as a threat and said goodbye to Bob, who succumbed to the walker bite. The survivors also split up, with Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Tara (Alanna Masterson) agreeing to accompany Sgt. Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz), Dr. Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt) and Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos) to Washington. But it was the final moments of “Four Walls and a Roof” that really set everything in motion for episode 4 – the return of Daryl.

While Michonne (Danai Gurira) was on watch outside of the church, Daryl emerged from the woods. Michonne asked where Carol was, but Daryl didn’t exactly answer. Instead he simply stated, “come on out.”

Since Daryl and Carol chased after the vehicle that took Beth, “Walking Dead” viewers can assume that Daryl either has Beth and other survivors with him – or potentially the people that kidnapped Beth. Unfortunately the promo video for episode 4 doesn’t shed much light. Fans can simply see Beth in a hospital bed with a bandage around her arm … but who brought her there? And what do they plan on doing with her?

Episode 4 of “The Walking Dead” will air on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 9 p.m. EST on AMC. Watch the promo video for “Slabtown” below and tweet your thoughts to @AmandaTVScoop.
