  • "Wednesday" antagonist Tyler will be returning for Season 2
  • Hunter Doohan teased that his character will be "fighting between the monster and the real version of him"
  • "Wednesday" was recently renewed for a second season

Netflix's record-breaking series "Wednesday" has just been renewed for a second season, and a fan-favorite character is making his return.

The first season of Tim Burton's "Addams Family" spin-off series ended with a major cliffhanger. Tyler Galpin was taken into police custody, but he later transformed into the monster Hyde and ripped apart his straitjacket, leaving fans wondering what happens next.

It seems that fans will be seeing more of Jenna Ortega's character Wednesday's love interest-turned-antagonist next season.

Hunter Doohan, who plays the teenage son of Sheriff Galpin, teased the fate of his character, Tyler, in Season 2 during a new interview with Entertainment Tonight.

"Coming back," Doohan told the outlet. "Can't really say anything else besides that, but I'm so excited to go back."

Although the 29-year-old actor couldn't share more details about the hit show's second season, as he hasn't seen the script yet, he did reveal that he'd like the inner battle between Tyler's normie self and his monstrous Hyde to be explored further in the series.

"I'm really excited because now that Tyler's secret is out of the bag, I'm excited for Season 2 to kind of explore him fighting between the monster and the real version of him," he added. "And also, he doesn't have his master, Christina Ricci, anymore, so what's he [going to] be like? I don't know."

Tyler shocked viewers toward the end of the first season as he was revealed to be the monster going on a killing spree in the town of Jericho, Vermont. But he is being given the benefit of the doubt because his monster, Hyde, was being controlled by the real antagonist, Laurel Gates (Ricci).

Fans have also praised Tyler and Wednesday's chemistry, despite them being enemies, and even created a moniker for their pairing, "Weyler."

"Wednesday and Tyler's dynamic was always amazing, but now that I know they're both murderers, it's at soulmatery [sic] levels," one fan wrote on Twitter.

Another commented, "Shhh I'm still all for Wednesday and Tyler, I felt so much with them [I don't give a f—k]."

"Tyler being the Hyde doesn't rule them out as a potential couple. [It's] actually what makes the ship seem more likely to happen and explains the interest and attraction Wednesday had for him," a third user said, while another commented, "Tyler and Wednesday are cute. [S]orry, like, I need them in [Season 2]."

Netflix announced earlier this year that "Wednesday" has been officially renewed for Season 2.

News of the Season 2 renewal came with a video announcement on Twitter, showing a recap of the mishaps, adventures and villains Wednesday had encountered during the pilot season.

"More torture Is coming. Lucky you," the official Wednesday Addams Twitter page captioned the video, which has accumulated over 2 million views and 133,000 likes since it was posted last month.

"We can't wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky, spooky world of Nevermore," "Wednesday" Season 1 co-showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough said of the renewal in a statement on Netflix's website. "We just need to make sure Wednesday hasn't emptied the pool first."

"Wednesday" made a promising debut in November last year, breaking a new record only a week after its release. It currently ranks as the second most popular English-language TV series on Netflix with 1.237 billion hours viewed within its first 28 days.
