With under 50 days until the presidential election, a poll released Sunday by Fox News shows Democratic nominee Joe Biden with a 5-point lead over President Donald Trump in the general election. The poll, taken from Sept 7-10, shows Biden with 51% support among registered voters, with Trump’s support at 46%.

This latest poll could indicate a tightening in the race. A Fox News poll from August showed Biden with a 7-point lead over Trump, 49%-42%.

In June, the Fox News general election survey showed Biden with a 12-point lead over Trump amid the protests following the death of George Floyd. The June poll showed Biden with 50% support nationwide, with Trump at 38%.

Recent polls show a tight race in some important battleground states. A poll released by SurveyUSA on Monday showed Biden and Trump tied in North Carolina, with both candidates receiving 47% of the vote each.

An NBC News/Marist poll released last week showed Biden and Trump even at 48% in the swing state of Florida. The survey showed Biden gaining support with seniors, while Trump has made inroads with the state’s Latino community. Florida, which has 29 electoral votes, is considered one of the most important battleground states. Trump carried the state in 2016 by 1.2 percentage points.

Other battleground states show a clear lead for Biden. A survey by Phoenix-based firm OH Predictive Insights released Monday showed Biden with a 10-point edge over Trump in Arizona, 52%-42%.

Poll aggregator Real Clear Politics, show Biden with an overall average lead by at least 4 points in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Trump won all three states in 2016.
