Prince Philip has a very close relationship with his grandchildren, especially Prince William and Prince Harry.

Marcia Moody, a journalist for Town & Country, revealed that Prince William and Prince Harry stayed with their grandparents following Princess Diana’s death. In order to protect them from the paparazzi, the Duke of Edinburgh took his grandchildren under his wing at Balmoral.

Tina Brown, the author of “The Diana Chronicles,” previously revealed that Prince Philip was effective in taking care of Prince William and Prince Harry because he himself lost his own mother when he was just 10 years old. And in his attempt to tire his grandchildren out, Prince Philip regularly engaged in outdoor activities with them.

While studying at Eton, Prince William still made it a point to visit his grandparents at Windsor Castle on weekends. More specifically, while he learned about constitutional matters from Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William bonded with Prince Philip over tea and chats.

And while at St. Andrew’s University, Prince William second-guessed himself and wanted to leave school. He spoke to Prince Philip who convinced him to continue studying, but Prince William ended up taking a different course.

Meanwhile, Prince Philip and Prince Harry are also close to each other, and they are bonded in military matters. Both men have seen active wartime duty, with Prince Philip serving in the Royal Navy during WWII, and Harry undertaking two hours in Afghanistan.

And years before his retirement, Prince Philip taught Prince Harry the ropes when it came to paying tribute to those who have sacrificed their lives for the sake of their country. Every year, the Duke of Sussex accompanied Prince Philip on engagements related to Remembrance Sunday.

In return, Prince Philip has shown support to Prince Harry and some of his endeavors like Walking with the Wounded Team at Buckingham Palace and taking a tour of his Sentebale Diana tribute garden.

Prince Philip and Prince Harry are also able to make each other laugh. And multiple reports claimed that the Queen husband underwent hip surgery ahead of Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle so that he could be there.
