It has been 22 years since Princess Diana died, but even the youngest royals know about her. Prince William and Kate Middleton tell Prince George and Princess Charlotte about their grandmother.

“George and Charlotte know all about their late grandmother and what an amazing woman she was,” a royal source told the Sept. 9 issue of Us Weekly. “William tells them she’s watching over them from heaven.”

He’ll likely do the same for Prince Louis when he is old enough. The Cambridges aren’t the only ones making sure their family knows about Diana. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also intend to make sure baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor knows of his grandmother.

The baby is nearly four months old, so while he can’t understand the tragedy yet, his parents are making sure that Diana has a presence. As previously reported, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex keep a photo of Princess Diana in Archie’s nursery.

Both of the couples try to follow Princess Diana’s lead when it comes to parenting. They’re both determined to give their children as much normality as possible despite being part of the royal family. For Meghan and Harry, that means not giving Archie a title. Meanwhile, William and Kate have their kids in school and participating in extracurricular activities just like any other child their age.

Prince Harry will take his family to South Africa this fall as part of a royal tour. It’s believed that Harry and William love Africa for the same reason their mother did: they’re treated like normal people there.
