The Season 4 storyline of “Orange Is the New Black” featured a shocking death. And if you’re confused as to who we’re referring to, then stop reading now and go binge-watch the latest installment of the Netflix dramedy! But for those who did finish the series and know which Litchfield inmate meets their gut-wrenching fate, we have something to tell you: It’s going to be OK.

In fact, that’s what Samira Wiley, who portrayed Poussey on the award-winning series, promised grieving fans after it was revealed her character was killed in episode 12, titled “The Animals.”

“This show has given me my life,” the 29-year-old actress told the New York Times. “I feel honored that they chose to tell this story with me.”

In the Season 4 episode, directed by “Mad Men” creator Matthew Weiner, a peaceful protest in Litchfield turned deadly when correctional officers started grabbing inmates. The chaos triggered something within Suzanne (Uzo Aduba), causing her to lose control. She was then seized by officer Bayley (Alan Aisenberg), who was attempting to restrain her. Poussey got involved, hoping to calm both parties. But her interference lead to Bayley knocking the prisoner down and suffocating her due to being distracted by Suzanne. The incident mimicked the tragic 2014 death of Eric Garner at the hands of Staten Island, New York, police.

“Jenji [Kohan, the series creator] came [into Season 4] feeling that telling not only a Black Lives Matter story but talking about the inherent violence of prison was really, really important,” Lauren Morelli, who wrote the gripping episode, explained.

It was important — and emotionally draining as it left fans of the prison dramedy with questions that can only be answered when “OITNB” returns with its fifth season. (The show was renewed for three additional installments in February 2016.) Although the Netflix series will revive the storyline next summer, the same can’t be said for Poussey’s life.

So, what’s next for Wiley now that her “OITNB” character has been killed off? Well, according to TVLine, the actress already has a gig lined up! The jailbird will fly over to a new network, to star in FXX comedy “You’re the Worst.” Wiley will take the role of Gretchen’s (Aya Cash) therapist Justina, the Hollywood Reporter revealed.

According to Wiley’s IMDb page, she’ll also appear in the upcoming movie Nerve, starring Emma Roberts, Dave Franco and Wiley’s “OITNB” co-star Kimiko Glenn, who portrayed Poussey’s lover in the fourth season.
