Unfortunately, no random assortment of gadgets will make a new episode of “MacGyver” magically air tonight. Last week, the show had its Season 3 fall finale, and now it’s on a short hiatus.

The CBS action series returns on Jan. 4 with Season 3, episode 11, titled “Mac + Fallout + Jack.” When it does come back, the episode, which was written by Jim Adler and directed by Carlos Bernard, will feature a diamond heist and a Las Vegas vacation gone wrong.

“Mac [Lucas Till] and Jack [George Eads] hit the road for a weekend of relaxation in Las Vegas, but their mini-vacation is cut short when someone from their past abducts them and locks them in a concrete room,” the synopsis reveals. “Also, Matty tasks Riley [Tristin Mays], Bozer [Justin Hires] and Leanna [Reign Edwards] with stealing a diamond encoded with terrorist intel from a princess in Milan.”

Tonight, instead of a new “MacGyver,” CBS is airing back-to-back episodes of “I Love Lucy” during the 8 p.m. EST hour. “The Christmas Episode,” which first aired in 1956, and “Pioneer Women,” which was first broadcast in 1952, are the two episodes airing Friday night.

CBS will get back to its regularly-scheduled programming of new “MacGyver” Season 3 episodes on Jan. 4 at 8 p.m. EST.
