Mingus Lucien Reedus, the son of actor Norman Reedus and supermodel Helena Christensen, was arrested Friday in New York City for assaulting a woman while attending the San Gennaro festival in Little Italy.

The incident occurred at 10:15 p.m. Police responded to a call near Mulberry Street and Baxter Street. The 21-year-old, who models under his middle name, was accused of punching a woman in the face during an argument.

Lucien Reedus was charged with misdemeanor assault and released. He also received a desk appearance ticket and is expected to appear in court in the next few weeks.

Following the incident, the 24-year-old woman was taken to New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital where she was treated for a cut under her left eye.

Lucien Reedus told the New York Daily News he accidentally hit the woman while throwing his arm out in an attempt to protect himself from her attack.

“It was instinct,” he said. “I was reacting to them swarming me and was afraid for the safety of my group.”

During the attack, Lucien Reedus said one of the women pulled his hair from the back and another threw water in his face. Prior to the attack, the model and his friends didn’t believe the argument would escalate.

“We didn’t think anything of it, but these five girls followed us for two blocks, throwing food at us and yelling. We told them to leave us alone, but they kept following, threatening to hurt my girlfriend and her friend,” Lucien Reedus said.

“It was very apparent that these girls were under the influence and looking for a fight.”

Lucien Reedus was born in Copenhagen. His parents dated but never married.

Unlike his father, who is known for his acting career and his role on "The Walking Dead," Lucien Reedus chose to follow in the steps of his supermodel mother. He is signed with London-based talent agency Unsigned Group.

Lucien Reedus walked in the Calvin Klein fashion show during New York Fashion Week in 2017 and recently landed on the cover of Vogue Hommes.
