Prince Charles prefers one of his daughters-in-law, sources say.

The Prince of Wales’ sons Prince William and Prince Harry are both married to prominent women. Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are beautiful, accomplished and successful. However, between the two, many believed that the Prince of Wales is more fond of the Duchess of Sussex.

“Charles is extraordinarily fond of his new daughter-in-law Meghan,” a source close to the royal family told Entertainment Tonight.

The same source said that Prince Charles is “over the moon” about becoming a grandfather again even he is already a granddad to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s three children 5-year-old Prince George, 3-year-old Princess Charlotte, and 1-year-old Prince Louis.

Another source said earlier that Prince Charles has an endearment for Markle. The Prince of Wales reportedly calls Prince Harry’s wife “tungsten” because she finds the former “Suits” star “tough and unbending.”

“Prince Charles admires Meghan for her strength and the backbone she gives Harry, who needs a tungsten-type figure in his life as he can be a bit of a soft,” a royal insider said.

However, another source claimed otherwise. An insider told Tatler’s May issue that Prince Charles actually had a less-than-ecstatic reaction when he met Markle for the first time. The future king didn’t like Markle and even told his friends, “I just hoped he [Prince Harry] doesn’t marry her.”

Meanwhile, Prince Charles relationship with Middleton isn’t as great as her connection with Markle. In Tom Bower’s book “Rebel Prince: The Power, Passion and Defiance of Prince Charles,” the author revealed that Prince Charles was threatened by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The heir reportedly felt overshadowed by his eldest son and daughter-in-law.

In addition, the Duke of Cornwall felt that Michael and Carole Middleton were the favored godparents. So, one time he instructed his royal aides to snub and ignore Middleton’s mom when she visits the palace which infuriated Prince William.

However, despite Bower’s claims, journalist Catherine Mayer thinks that the tension between Prince Charles and Middleton are simply from the British press “wanting to create stories where there aren’t necessarily stories.” Prince Charles and Middleton have been photographed in various royal engagements and they looked comfortable and happy with each other’s company.
