Camilla Parker Bowles never tried to replace Princess Diana as Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom.

Prince Charles and Camilla had a hard time winning the public’s approval when it comes to their romance. The majority of the people didn’t support their relationship after Princess Diana implied about their affair following her failed marriage to Prince Charles.

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall proved everyone that their love for each other was true. They got married in 2005 years after Princess Diana died. However, even if they are already an official couple, Camilla didn’t attempt to replace Princess Diana’s role to Prince William and Prince Harry. She never attempted to be their second mom.

According to biographer Penny Junor in her book “The Duchess: The Untold Story,” there’s a simple reason why she didn’t try to. Camilla knew that Prince Harry and Prince William wanted their own mother and she herself has two kids of her own.

“You want your mum, you don’t want her, and she had her own family,” Junor said.

Camilla and Prince Charles dated first before they married their first spouses Andrew Parker Bowles and Princess Diana, respectively. However, the royal family weren’t supportive of their relationship at the time because Camilla was not aristocrat enough and she was deemed as a woman with experience.

When Prince Charles was away for his royal duties, Camilla went on and married Andrew. They share two children, Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes.

Prince Charles was heartbroken and eventually met Princess Diana. The Prince and Princess of Wales then welcomed two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, after they tied the knot.

Many royal fans have time and time again wondered about Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship with Camilla especially since she was blamed for their parents’ divorce. But according to Prince Harry, they are close to their stepmother.

“To be honest, she’s always been very close to me and William,” Meghan Markle’s husband said.

“She’s not a wicked stepmother. Look at the position she’s coming into. Don’t feel sorry for me and William, feel sorry for her.”
