Kate McKinnon explained it was "very hard" for her to take the decision to leave "Saturday Night Live" ahead of the 48th season, but did so because her "body was tired" and she felt "it was time."

"All I ever wanted to do in my whole life was be on ‘Saturday Night Live,'" McKinnon said during her appearance on the "Live With Kelly and Ryan" show Thursday. "So, I did, I loved it, I had the best decade, and then I was just like, my body was tired, and I felt like it was time."

The 38-year-old actress had been a regular on the show since 2012.

McKinnon was asked during the interview if she will be watching the 48th season, to which she replied she was not sure about it, considering it might be too emotional.

"I don’t know that I can watch the show yet because it’s too emo because I miss everyone so much," she explained. "It’s my family… So, I think I’m just going to tape ‘The Bachelorette’ and watch it [on Saturdays]."

The actress, who famously portrayed Hillary Clinton in several sketches on the show, departed after completing 47th season finale in May alongside other "Saturday Night Live" cast members -- Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney and Pete Davidson.
