Although Meghan Markle was allowed to celebrate the arrival of her and Prince Harry’s baby in a lavished baby shower, the Duchess of Sussex will be expected to return certain gifts she received depending on who brought them.

When Meghan starred on the USA series “Suits,” she would often receive gifts from designers and other companies. However, as a member of the royal family, she and Harry will have to consider the sender’s motive and possibly return presents gifted to the royal baby.

Meghan and Harry, along with other royal family members, are reportedly required to follow certain guidelines when it comes to accepting gifts.

“The fundamental principle governing the acceptance of gifts by Members of The Royal Family is that no gifts should be accepted which would place the Member of The Royal Family under any obligation to the donor,” stated an article from the Mirror Online.

“In this regard, before accepting any gift, careful consideration should always be given to the donor, the reason for and occasion of the gift and the nature of the gift itself. Equally, before declining the offer of a gift, careful consideration should be given to any offense that might be caused by such an action.”

Meghan’s baby shower took place in February at The Mark hotel in New York City. The event was attended by some of the 37-year-old’s closest pals like Amal Clooney, Serena Williams and Jessica Mulroney.

While many assume her famous friends gifted her with luxurious baby gifts, it is unclear which ones the Duchess of Sussex will choose to keep, and which ones she will return. Meghan is expected to give birth to her and Prince Harry’s first child in spring 2019.
