A 36-year-old mother in Hamilton County, Ohio, has gone viral on social media after she contacted her deceased husband's lover and shared their exchange online.

Bridgette Davis took to TikTok to recount the awkward text exchange she had with her late husband’s lover in a video that has racked up more than 1.6 million views. "When your husband of 10 years dies and you have to tell his mistress," she captioned the clip.

Davis' husband took his own life in 2018 following a long battle with bipolar disorder, the New York Post reported.

The couple had separated several months prior to his death, according to Davis, who also revealed that her husband was no longer living in their marital home at the time he took his own life.

Despite this, Davis' husband, who was the father of her two daughters, had promised he wanted to reconcile shortly before his death.

Davis, however, was aware that her husband had been seeing another woman prior to his suicide. The widow eventually decided to text his lover and inform her of the death.

"I felt as though she had the right to know. At that point, I didn't have anything against her. And I knew that the man I married and the man she was dating were two completely different people," Davis was quoted as saying in another TikTok video.

Screenshots included in Davis' video show the mistress responding in shock to the news.

"F--k. I can't believe this," the other woman first replied to Davis.

"I can't, I'm losing it. I can't do this again. He promised me," she added.

When the mistress asked if she could visit where Davis' husband was buried, the widow replied, "No."

In another video, Davis shared more screenshots of her text exchange with the mistress, showing that she had confronted her husband's lover and asked if she knew the couple had been married for 10 years.

"You know he was my husband for 10 years right? That we have two amazing kids together that I homeschool?" Davis asked.

"Yes. I know a lot about things. He needed support, [he] told me [he] and I were peas in a pod," the mistress replied.

Davis has since stayed with her two daughters, aged 11 and 13, following her husband's death.

TikTok users' reactions to Davis' videos varied, with some claiming to have understood the widow's situation, while others sympathized with her husband's lover.

"She knew. So while I can understand on a warped level that she is grieving, I ain’t got no sympathy for someone like that. She KNEW. He had a FAMILY," a commenter wrote.

"Seems like you texted her just so you could be mean to her and not let her go visit. Either be nice or move on," another one said.
