Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Marvel speedster character Quicksilver was introduced in the 2015 film “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” but fans were surprised to see said character killed off before that movie’s end. Since then, people have wondered whether that was actually it for the hero or if we’d get to see more from him in later installments. Johnson has essentially confirmed the truth.

While talking to Screen Rant for his newest movie “A Million Little Pieces,” he was asked if he had a definitive answer for the long-running question.

“I mean, I think it’s safe to say that no,” Johnson concluded and then continued, “there will be no appearance of me coming out or Quicksilver appearing anytime soon.”

Johnson mentioned that he still keeps in touch with executives and higher-ups at Disney and, at the same time, never disputes any discussions of him returning. While it doesn’t seem likely that he would pop up in the main post-“Infinity War” timeline, the possibilities are left open with the continuity shifting “What If…?” series.

“What If…?” explores the variables in the Marvel multiverse, where some characters end up notably different situations. For example, what if Peggy Carter became Captain America instead of Steve Rogers, or what if T’Challa became Star-Lord? With that said, you don’t exactly have to suspend disbelief to imagine Quicksilver surviving a gunshot wound.

"I think we’re both open to possibilities,” Johnson said, referring directly to Disney+. WhatCulture is keeping track of every character confirmed for the “What If…?” series and Johnson’s name still remains missing from the list. His comment about “possibilities” may give fans hope, but the answer is, as of right now, is a clear “no.”
