Rey, Jyn Erso is your mother. Or is she? When the “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” debuted last week, “Star Wars” fans met a new heroine they’ll be rooting for after seeing Jyn Erso fight her way through Stormtroopers with ease. Some have started to speculate that the upcoming spinoff movie could be connected to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” by having Jyn Erso be the mother of Rey. Actress Daisy Ridley responded to the rumors Sunday night and told fans not to get their hopes up.

Since the release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in December, fans have come with several different theories as to who Rey’s (Daisy Ridley) parents are. Some believe Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is her father, while others think it’s possible that Obi-Wan Kenobi is. As far as her mother goes, many aren't sure, but could see Rey being the long lost daughter of Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford). The most recent mother theory is Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), but in an interview with MTV, Ridley said that although the two characters look alike, Jyn Erso is not likely the mother of Rey.

“I’m not being funny you guys, but just because she’s white and got brown hair… it doesn’t mean she’s my mom,” Ridley dished.

The 24-year-old actress also revealed that she is already aware of who Rey’s parents are, while noting that she doesn’t believe it’s that important. She also said she “doesn’t know” if Rey is a Jedi or not.

Not much is known about Jyn Erso yet except for what was revealed in the trailer. Jyn Erso is described as “reckless, aggressive, and undisciplined.” She also showed that she’s not afraid to get her hands dirty while fighting for the Rebellion and taking down the Galactic Empire. “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” will be about the Rebellion team that steals the plans to the Death Star that ends up in the hands of Leia in “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.”

The answers to Rey’s parentage could arrive in “Star Wars: Episode VIII,” which is currently filming. The movie is expected to pick up right where “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” left off with Rey meeting Luke Skywalker.

“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” hits theaters Dec. 17.
