UK’s royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton has set a world record of the most watched online event ever, according to the latest edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.

The ceremony was watched online by 72 million viewers, earning it the title for Most Live Streams for a Single Event in the Guinness Book of World Records that was released on Thursday, Reuters reports.

The royal wedding took place at London’s Westminster Abbey where Britain’s Prince William and his long-time girlfriend Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, were pronounced man and wife by the Archbishop of Canterbury on April 29, 2011.

The royal event was watched by millions of viewers on television worldwide.
