A woman in Australia has claimed she "feared for her life" when an unleashed dog attacked her at a park. The unruly canine's "useless" owner allegedly stood at a close distance, refusing to come to her rescue during the ordeal.

The victim, Fiona Davies, said she was walking her Japanese Spitz, Pacho, at Bundock Park in Clovelly at around 7 a.m. on May 7 when an unleashed black pit bull mix pounced on her pet with its mouth wide open. Pacho tried to run off, yelping and screaming as the other dog continued to follow it, Davies wrote in a Facebook post dated May 8.

Davies said the owner stood a few meters away but did nothing to help her other than just calling the canine by its name. "The owner is now standing a few meters away, I'm yelling at her to get her dog, but she just stands there, shouting the dog's name, refusing to get closer," the victim noted in her post.

A quick-thinking Davies then lifted Pacho into her arms to keep it from harm. "With the owner completely useless and no one else around to help, I get between the dogs and hoist Pacho into my arms," she wrote.

Davies added that she thought the other dog's owner would finally get hold of her canine, but that didn't happen.

"I thought once I had him off the ground the owner would get hold of her dog," Davies continued. "Instead, she remains frozen while I struggle to hold my 12kg boy out of reach of this dog's snapping jaws, as he's now jumping up on me continuously, completely hellbent on grabbing Pacho.

Davies then said she sustained intense injuries before the owner managed to divert the dog's attention. "I was bitten at least three times, leaving puncture wounds on both arms and deep bruising," she recalled, adding that the owner of the pit bull mix started apologizing and burst into "uncontrollable tears" following the attack.

The victim also claimed that the owner of the dog called up her partner, who showed up at the scene but appeared "totally unsympathetic and dismissive" despite seeing her wounds. "WTF! I was deadsest fearing for my life for a good few panicked seconds with this dog chomping down on my limbs, and that's his response!" she wrote.

Davies went on to share that she checked Pacho for injuries afterward. Luckily, it didn't suffer any. "I don't feel great about plastering up wanted posters on social media, but as long as this dog is allowed to continue to roam freely with owners who have absolutely no control over him, he is a danger to the public. Obviously I don't want to see any dog put down… but YOU ARE NOT 'PROTECTING' YOUR DANGEROUS DOG by pretending there's no problem. The next dog it attacks might not be so lucky, with the end result being two dead dogs," she further noted.

Davies also asked for Facebook users' help to track the owner of the pit bull mix. In response, a commenter revealed the name of the unruly canine's owner, who is believed to be a local school teacher and a surf lifesaving club member.

The victim has since sought legal action against the owner of the unleashed dog and filed an official complaint with Randwick Council. In a statement released to Yahoo News Australia, Randwick Council said it is currently investigating the incident.
