He ordered a test to prove he was the father of the child Juliet is carrying, and now, Cane’s world will continue to crumble even further when the results come in on the Wednesday, July 12 episode of “The Young and the Restless.”

Cane’s (Daniel Goddard) life has been in a state of freefall ever since Juliet (Laur Allen) filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against him when she was fired from Brash and Sassy over the botched hockey deal. She claimed he had coerced her into having sex while in Tokyo and then offered her the job at the company, a claim he vehemently denied on the CBS soap. Though he was pretty sure he did actually have sex with her while they were drunk there, he knew he didn’t harass her.

Since then, Juliet has confirmed she was pregnant and that conception occurred around that time, which forced Cane to admit to Lily (Christel Khalil) that he cheated, and to Victoria (Amelia Heinle) that he did actually have sex with their former employee. As a result, the case was settled with Brash and Sassy paying Juliet off, and Cane was fired from his job. Because of those consequences, as well as the ones he has suffered at home because his wife has been freezing him out over his betrayal, Cane demanded a paternity test in the hopes that he could prove he isn’t the father of Juliet’s baby, and could potentially rebuild some of his life back. However, Juliet will show up at his house with news that will only add another blow.

“I got the test results,” she says in a preview clip.

Sure enough the results will come back showing that without a doubt, Cane is the father of her baby, and is the final bit of evidence that they did have sex. It will be a harsh blow for him because he can no longer hold on to the glimmer of hope that something will exonerate him and prove he didn’t screw up as badly as he apparently did.

Now, Juliet will inform him that she doesn’t want or need him to be a part of their child’s life, as she has enough money to care for the baby on her own thanks to the settlement. But, both she and Cane may be surprised by Lily’s reaction to the news.

While getting confirmation that her husband is having a baby with another woman is a very hard pill to swallow, Lily will refuse to allow Cane to get off the hook for being a father simply because Juliet has made it clear she doesn’t need him to be involved. In an unexpected twist, Lily will insist to Cane that he isn’t allowed to be a deadbeat in this case, and she will tell him to do whatever it takes to convince Juliet that he wants to act like a true father.

“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. EDT on CBS.
