‘90 Day Fiancé’ Star Kalani Explains Why Her Sister Dislikes Asuelu

TLC viewers witnessed a tense dinner while watching “90 Day Fiancé” Season 6, episode 3 on Sunday night. When cast member Kalani Faagata introduced her family to Asuelu Pulaa, her sister, Kolini, made it clear she was not happy to meet the father of her nephew, Oliver.

Kolini, who spent the first five months of Oliver’s life being his surrogate father, admitted she was upset Asuelu believed he could show up and suddenly be a parent to his son. When some viewers began to bash Kolini on social media for criticizing Asuelu, Kalani took to Instagram to defend her sister.

The “90 Day Fiancé” Season 6 star claimed Kolini had every reason to be upset about Asuelu’s new role in Oliver’s life. “My sister WAS Oliver’s dad for the first five months. She watched him when I had to go back to work for Asuelu’s papers,” Kalani wrote in a post on her Instagram Story.

The California native revealed her sister also supported her financially by purchasing items she didn’t receive at her baby shower and allowing her to skip paying her share of the bills in order to attend doctor appointments and buy plane tickets for Asuelu’s interviews.

Although Asuelu made money when he lived in Samoa, Kalani explained that it wasn’t enough to support their baby. “He made $600 American a month with no bills. As a sister, if you know you’re throwing down time and money to help your nephew and know that the father isn’t helping in ways that he could-YOU’D BE SALTY, TOO!”

Since Asuelu came to the US, the sisters have had a strained relationship. The two used to live together, but when Asuelu’s K-1 Visa was approved, Kolini refused to live under the same roof as him. Kalani moved into an Airbnb to figure out her next move.

While Asuelu is failing to gain the approval of Kalani’s family on camera, off screen it appears he is still in California with his fiancée and son.

The specifics about their current living arrangement remain unclear which means fans will have to wait to see if Kolini and Asuelu will work through their problems for the sake of Kalani.
