An 11-year-old California boy, who had an Amber Alert issued for him after his father allegedly stabbed his mother in a parking lot and kidnapped him, was found safe Sunday.

An Amber Alert was issued Saturday after the alleged kidnapping by his father, the Modesto Police Department said in a statement. Authorities had described the boy’s father, Walter Lara, 38, as "armed and dangerous."

Walter allegedly stabbed Adler’s mother in the parking lot of Motel 6 in West Orangeburg Avenue, Good Day Sacramento reported. The woman, who was in a critical condition following the attack, is now out of danger.

The cops had released pictures of the son and the father, as well as that of the silver BMW in which the police believed they were traveling. In the update, the police said Walter was no longer driving the vehicle. The Amber Alert had been in issued across Merced, Madera, Fresno, Kings, Tulare, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, Imperial, San Bernardino and Stanislaus counties.

Deputies had updated about locating the vehicle at around 9.00 a.m. on Sunday, but said the suspect and the victim were unaccounted for. The department said Adler was found at around 1.00 p.m. that day. Cops didn’t release further information regarding the circumstances around locating Adler.

The motive for the stabbing and kidnapping were not clear. It was not revealed if Walter was taken into custody by the police.

Earlier this month, an Amber Alert was issued for a 1-year-old North Carolina boy, identified as Gabriel Newman, after he was kidnapped by a man. The police said the child was last seen traveling with his abductor, identified as Gregory Newman, on Highway 57. Gabriel was said to have black hair and brown eyes, and was reportedly wearing a Nike outfit and shorts with a black and white Nike logo, while Gregory was described as 6 feet tall, weighing 190 pounds, with brown eyes, and a scarf covering his black long deadlocks. The relationship between the child and his abductor remained unclear.
