  • The petition to remove Amber Heard from the "Aquaman" franchise is getting more support
  • The petition has already received 1.6 million signatures as of late
  • Jeanne Larson insists that the petition is not "unsubstantiated" by citing Heard's leaked recording

The petition to remove Amber Heard from "Aquaman 2" has received over 1.5 million signatures already after Johnny Depp resigned from the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise.

The support for the petition calling for Heard's removal from the "Aquaman" franchise has gone up after Warner Bros. asked Depp to resign from the "Fantastic Beasts" series and following reports that Mads Mikkelson will be replacing Depp in the movie. Before November ended, the petition has already received over $1.5 million signatures — over half of the target 3,000,000 pledges, Deadline reported.

As of press time, the petition has already received 1,653,163 million signatures. The petition calls for Heard's removal from the superhero flick where she plays the character of Mera. It also accused Heard as a domestic abuser by citing the incident in 2009 when she was arrested for abusing her former domestic partner, Tasya Van Ree.

"Amber Heard is a known and proven domestic abuser, Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment should and must remove Heard from their Aquaman 2 film project. They must not ignore the suffering of Heard's victims, and must not glamorize a domestic abuser. Men are victims of domestic abuse, just like women,” the petition read.

Jeanne Larson, the one who started the petition, continued to update it. On Nov. 30, she published an article about the reports claiming that the petition was unsubstantiated by sharing the audio recordings of Heard admitting that she hit Depp.

"Amber Heard admits in her own recordings that she repeatedly instigated physical fights with Johnny Depp and became enraged when he would often 'split' to avoid the confrontation. She accused him of being a monster because he refused to stay and fight," she wrote.

"By all means, go ahead and have a listen. Not to rumor, not to innuendo, and not to gossip. But listen to Amber Heard's own words. They tell you everything you need to know," she concluded.

Meanwhile, Mikkelsen is Depp's official replacement as dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald in “Fantastic Beasts.” However, several Twitter users were not happy that he accepted the offer because for them, by doing so, he was supporting those who took advantage of Depp.

The netizens were all the more irked because they felt that Depp, a domestic abuse victim, was let go of the project due to false allegations. So, many of them won’t be watching the next “Fantastic Beasts” movies.

"I sincerely hope one day a woman as diabolical as Amber Turd will cross paths with Mads Mikkelsen and he'll learn what is like to be a victim of DV and MAYBE then he'll remember how he helped punish Johnny Depp. #BoycottWarnerBros #JusticeForJohnnyDepp," one wrote.
