Selma Blair has landed an interesting new role. The 42-year-old, best known for her roles in "Hellboy," "Legally Blonde" and "Cruel Intentions," is slated to star in FX's upcoming miniseries "American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson."

The spinoff of the popular "American Horror Story" franchise will center on the 1995 OJ Simpson murder case. According to reports, Blair has been cast in the role of Kris Jenner. As you may recall, the Kardashian momager was married to esteemed lawyer Robert Kardashian, who famously defended Simpson. They had divorced by the time of the trial, and Jenner was a close friend of Simpson's ex-wife, Nicole Brown, whom he was accused of killing.

Brown and Simpson were married for seven years, starting in 1985. Their marriage ended in an ugly divorce during which the waitress accused her husband of being abusive. She took him to court in 1989 where he plead no contest to spousal abuse. In June 1994, Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman were found stabbed to death inside her Los Angeles home. She was 35-years-old at the time. Authorities suspected her former husband, however he was found not guilty of either murder.

Also starring in "American Crime Story" is David Schwimmer, John Travolta, Cuba Gooding Jr., Sarah Paulson, Courtney B. Vance, Connie Britton and Jordana Brewster. The show is being executive produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, both of which worked together on "American Horror Story."

Filming for "American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson" is said to be underway. The 10-episode series will premiere in 2016.

Here are 4 things you need to know about Kris Jenner’s friendship with Nicole Brown:

1. Kris was supposed to meet with Nicole the day she was killed. In her memoir, “Kris Jenner…and All Things Kardashian,” the 59-year-old shared that Nicole had called her on the day she was murdered and asked to meet with her, saying, “I need to talk to you it’s important.” Kris was unable, as she was stuck at home with her young children.

2. Kris wholeheartedly believes “in some way” that OJ had something to do with Nicole’s murder. According to the Kardashian matriarch, she “instinctively knew” OJ was responsible for the murder.

3. Kris memorialized her friend by including one of her signature recipes in her cookbook, “In the Kitchen with Kris.” In an effort to pay tribute to her late best friend, Kris included Brown’s chicken nacho recipe in her cookbook, which came out in October 2014. She said, “back in the day, nobody in our circle would even think about throwing a party without serving Nicole’s chicken nachos.”

4. The trial created a divide in the Kardashian family. During a 2009 interview with Phil McGraw, host of “The Dr. Phil Show,” the Kardashian family revealed the rift the murder trial caused between them. Kim Kardashian told the show’s host her and her sisters initially sided with their father in the belief that OJ was innocent, while Kris believed he had done it. She recalled visiting the court house with her father and seeing her mother sitting amongst the Brown family and what guilt she and her sister Kourtney Kardashian felt at the time.
