April, the pregnant giraffe at the Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, New York, “continues to progress” but there are no signs of her going into labor, keeping thousands of people across the world waiting for her to give birth.

The upstate New York zoo had predicted that April’s calf will be born Tuesday, but everyone was in for disappointment as there were no signs of the pregnant giraffe going into active labor late in the day.

April became nothing short of an internet sensation after the zoo set up a live stream to document April’s pregnancy and the birth of her calf on Feb. 10. Now, over 100,000 people watch the live stream regularly, waiting for April to show signs of progress.

The zoo also posts updates on April’s progress, twice a day, on its Facebook page, which is followed by over 900,000 people.

“Mammary development has increased again since this morning!” the evening update Tuesday read. “She has been a great sport all day.”

“My prediction was today, as many of you know, and that too will go out the window with my priors - but we are close! Hooves crossed!” the post added. “With her current progression, each day we come closer to the anticipated birth and arrival of our newest member of Animal Adventure!”

At the time of birth, the newborn is expected to weigh about 150 pounds and stand almost 6 feet tall, according to the zoo. The calf’s name will be decided through a contest.

This will be April’s fourth calf and after staying with the mother for about 10 months, it will be moved to another facility to avoid incestuous behavior. For April’s 5-year-old mate Oliver, who can be seen in the next enclosure, this will be his first calf.
