After keeping fans in the dark for a while about the status of their hit show, the Brown family is officially returning to TLC for another new season of "Sister Wives." However, while the Brown family will be sharing some of the happier moments from the past year of their lives, it appears that drama may be circulating once again when it comes to Kody and Meri's spiritual marriage.

In a trailer for Season 8, which premieres Jan. 7, Meri seems to once again be pulling away from her family, as she talks about opening a bed and breakfast in Parowan, Utah, a city nearly three hours away from them all in Las Vegas. Though Christine initially seems supportive of the venture however, exclaiming how cute the property Meri is eyeing is, she will begin to voice concerns that Meri is once again disconnecting from the family.

"You've been struggling to find your place in the family," she says in the trailer. "So you think that having something like this...it's not going to make you more connected. And you haven't really been that connected."

Later in the trailer, Meri and Kody are seen having an emotional conversation together about their relationship, where it appears Meri is ready to take some new steps forward—ones Kody isn't on the same page about.

"I know I can be strong and do things on my own," she cries. "I've done that a lot, and I don't want to only do that."

However, Kody seems hesitant to let things progress for them again, after possibly seeming as though he's still hurt from her public Catfishing scandal.

"Meri's ready to back into a deep and intimate relationship, but I'm not," he admits.

Meri then admits she doesn't know where things are going to go with her and Kody, and seems to indicate in a discussion with Christine, Robyn and Janelle, that she feels as if she and Kody may be on the brink of a split, which leads the others to try and indicate that no matter what happens, they will always be there for her.

"Just forget all of the outside noise and just stay here with us," Janelle says.

"No matter what is happening with you and Kody, we still love you," Robyn adds.

However, that drama won't be the only thing that seems to affect the family in the new season. There will also be unexpected complications which may arise in the health of one of Christine and Kody's daughters, as well as the family's publicized march in Utah to try and legalize polygamy in the state.

Several happy moments from the family's lives also appear to make it into the new season as well. Those will include Kody and Christine's daughter Mykelti marrying her husband Tony, Kody and Meri's daughter Mariah introducing her girlfriend Audrey to the family, as well as the announcement and arrival of Kody and Janelle's daughter Maddy's son with her husband, Caleb.

"Sister Wives" returns Jan. 7 at 8 p.m. EST on TLC.
