Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi have prided themselves on being honest with the public about their relationship. From the start, they’ve been clear that they’re not rushing to get married and are instead taking things slow.

Months later, the former “Bachelor” star admits they’ve still got a lot to work on before they start preparing for a wedding. During an interview with KTLA (via Us Weekly) he said meeting on “The Bachelor” was “not the ideal experience.” Nick said that he and Vanessa have enjoyed putting in the work to grow their relationship and aren’t feeling any outside pressure.

“We’ve been pretty up front about having a lot of things to work on, and we’re excited about doing that. So we don’t feel any pressure like that -- we’re just kind of doing our own thing,” he told KTLA.

Although they’re not planning to wed anytime soon, Nick and Vanessa have given some thought to what their big day will be like. During a Facebook Live interview with Extra, the former “Bachelor” star revealed that they were undecided about getting married on TV, though they’re open to it. At the moment, they’re focusing on building a stronger relationship.

“Vanessa and I are just focused on our relationship — when we decide it’s time for us to take that next step, we’re just going to plan a wedding, and if the show wants us, great, and if not...We’re not really focused on whether it’s going to be televised or not,” he said.

Getting married on TV may not be a priority, but Nick and Vanessa have showcased their love for one another before cameras on more than one occasion. The special education teacher appeared in one of Nick’s dances on “Dancing With the Stars” in Week 4. He and partner Peta Murgatroyd were dancing to “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran, when he made his way to Vanessa and kissed her before the entire audience.

Nick and Vanessa have repeatedly maintained that they’re happy, but Bachelor Nation isn’t buying it. The pair have had to defend their relationship publicly a number of times, assuring fans that they’re still together. During an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Vanessa was asked about their awkward “After the Final Rose” interview, which she said she felt was “honest” rather than uncomfortable.

“I don’t think so,” she said (via Us Weekly). “I think we both went in it wanting to be honest and open about couples, you know, sometimes things can get tough, but we’re very committed to each other, we love each other, and that’s what we’re focusing on.”
