Ever since Arnold Schwarzenegger tweeted that he was interested in getting back to acting, prospective producers have been abuzz about how to get the action hero to sign on. It seems Universal has zeroed in on his Terminator avatar.

They want him to be part of Terminator 5 with Justin Lin helming the show. Chris Morgan, will be writing the script, reports Deadline.com

Justin Lin has done all three Fast and Furious movies for Universal and is a favorite with the studio.

It is a bit of a risk to start the franchise as an earlier attempt by McG to relaunch the franchise - with Terminator Salvation starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington - came to naught due to bankruptcy issues.

The Terminator franchise has been acquired in bankruptcy court by the hedge fund, Pacificor for $29.5 million. Since then not many studios have shown an interest in filming the franchise. Although the agreement leaves the distribution rights open to Sony and Lionsgate, they do not seem to be interested. Maybe the dismal response to Terminator Salvation is part of the reason.

The Terminator story is big enough to be adapted to a 3D behemoth but as the last film showed, there is nothing much left to be done with the story. The first two films were above par, the third outing which had Arnold was already showing signs of being stretched too far.

As fans are tweeting and blogging, Arnold should take their advice and go in for a comedy first. One comment advises a return of Twins2 maybe . Or let us have a comic action thriller-combine, Terminator and Twins!!
