Oliver (Stephen Amell, left pictured) had to take out the Deathstroke army in the Season 2 finale of "Arrow." CW

“Arrow” returns to the CW on Wednesday, Oct. 8, with the Season 3 premiere of the hit comic-action series. However, before fans see the next chapter in the saga of the Oliver Queen/Arrow (Stephen Amell) saga, they might need a refresher on how things were left after the action-packed Season 2 finale.

The finale focused on Oliver’s continued battle with Slade (Manu Bennet) and the Deathstrokes. The episode began with Oliver and company fighting their way out of a Deathstroke attack on the Arrow hideout with the help of Sara (Caity Lotz) and the League of Assassins.

One thing Oliver had going for him was the Mirakuru cure, which Oliver had given to Roy (Colton Haynes) in the previous episode, seemed to be working. Oliver plans to go after Sade’s army with arrows dipped in the cure so he won't have to kill anyone. He enlists the help of the League of Assassins for the mission.

The group attack’s Slade’s headquarters, and he's forced to flee after most of his army is subdued by the cure-coated arrows. In the battle, Nyssa (Katrina Law) kills Isabel (Summer Glau), claiming Oliver doesn't have the will to do what's necessary to protect the city (i.e. kill).

Now, Oliver had to track down Slade before and ARGUS drone would be set loose on the city to keep the Deathstroke threat contained. Before Oliver goes to find Slade, he brings Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) to the Queen mansion to keep her safe. He told her Slade kidnapped the wrong person when he took Laurel (Katie Cassidy), and that Felicity was the girl he loved.

However, when Oliver got to Slade’s hideout, Slade had captured Felicity (he had the mansion bugged and heard the whole confession). When Slade threatened to kill Felicity, she suddenly stabbed him with the cure, which was her and Oliver’s plan all along (they faked the conversation at the mansion to get Felicity close to Slade). Oliver and Slade then fought where Oliver was bale to subdue Slade without killing him. Slade was taken to an ARGUS super prison at the end of the episode.

Elsewhere in Starling, Thea (Willa Holland) left with Malcolm (John Barrowman) after he convinced her that she could no longer trust Roy (Roy had sworn to her that he would give up being a vigilante).

Meanwhile, the flashbacks to Oliver and Sara on the island showed the two taking on Slade. Sara gets sucked out to the ocean during the battle (presumably how she got separated and joined the League of Assassins), but Oliver is able to beat Slade. But after the fight, he blacked out and woke up in Honk Kong to be greeted by Amanda Waller (Cynthia Addai-Robinson).

In the Season 3 premiere of "Arrow," Oliver will try to better balance being Arrow and Oliver Queen, and will ask Felicity out on a date. But things get complicated when a new villain, Vertigo (Peter Stormare), arrives in Starling. Plus, what will happen in the flashbacks with Waller in Honk Kong? And have fans heard the last of Slade? Fans will have to tune in to the premiere to find out. Arrow premieres Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 8 p.m. EDT on the CW.
