Asus has finally announced its latest gaming phone, the ROG Phone 3. This handset features all the best that its predecessor has to offer and more and is currently the most powerful smartphone available in the market.

The ROG Phone 3 was very recently unveiled via the online “Game Changer” event. It comes with the best of specs any mobile gamer would want to have at the moment and can also be used with a slew of accessories meant to take mobile gaming further.

Here's a quick look at what Asus packed in the new ROG Phone 3.

Powerful innards

The new ROG Phone 3 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 865+. ASUS says the CPU clocks at 3.1GHz. This is backed by up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and an Adreno 650 GPU.

Gaming features

Asus equipped the ROG Phone 3 with the latest mobile gaming technologies it has to offer, including the following:

  • GameCool 3 Cooling System - A cooling system that has heat sinks that are six times larger than the ones on the ROG Phone 2 and offers 14% increased thermal efficiency compared to the previous generation.
  • AeroActive Cooler 3 - An external cooler that can reduce device heat by up to 4 degrees celsius.
  • Enhanced AirTrigger 3 technology - Ultrasonic touch sensors located at its edges. These sensors offer support for gestures such as swipe, slide and inner/outer detection.
  • Quad microphone system - A noise-canceling quad-microphone array that optimizes speech quality.
  • GameFX Dual front-facing stereo speakers - Dual front-facing speakers that are designed to immerse players in their game even more.

Essential features

The ROG Phone 3 boasts of a 6.59-inch AMOLED display that has 144Hz high refresh rate and 270Hz touch-sampling rate. It also has a 6,000 mAh battery for long-lasting gaming sessions. The device has 5G support and features technologies used for “ultrastable connections.”

Asus also equipped the ROG Phone 3 with a triple-camera array at the back, comprised of a Sony IMX686 64MP main sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide sensor and a macro camera. At the front rests a 24MP camera for selfies and live-streaming.

Accessories

Those who buy the ROG Phone 3 can use a slew of accessories aside from the aforementioned AeroActive cooler. These include a dual-screen dock that connects the phone to another display with 144Hz refresh rate, a desktop dock that turns the phone into a gaming PC of sorts, an external controller similar to the Switch's joy-cons and more.
